Initiated a free monthly phone-in program called "Dial the Doctor" that featured different medical specialty societies answering the public's questions. To promote these events, forged cooperative promotional relationships with Eckerd drug stores, senior citizen organizations, civic groups & businesses. Also, utilized radio station public service announcements, newspaper articles and major television talk show appearances to inform the community.

On behalf of Spring Branch Medical Center (SBMC) Cardiac Cath Lab, secured participation as only non-teaching hospital in a national Federal Drug Administration study about pacemakers.

Gained citywide media coverage (radio, television and newspaper) and national press attention about a special birth at Spring Branch Medical Center.

Coordinated citywide media relations and edited biweekly newsletter distributed to the 5,000+ physician members as staff person for the Harris Medical Society Public Service and Communications Committee.

Wrote and produced series of "Medical Minute" public service announcements aired on KQUE radio station.

 

 

The "Dial the Doctor" community service concept became so popular it was expanded to feature additional medical specialties - and was utilized for several years by the Harris County Medical Society.
