Vice President / Business Development
Nelda Watson began her professional career in medical administration
-- working her way to office manager of the Durham Clinic,
a 32-physician multi-specialty clinic, before becoming surgical
coordinator and the office manager of Texas Eye Institute
(TEI), a seven-physician ophthalmology practice with several
satellite locations in Houston, TX.
In addition to her outstanding organizational and people
management skills, Nelda possessed a keen interest in marketing.
She realized that one of the priority functions of TEI --
patient interaction -- was often executed by the lowest-paid
personnel. She devised a business in which patients who had
not visited the clinic within the past year would be identified
through chart review, then personally telephoned.
Patient Recall Systems (PRS) has consistently deliverd millions
of collected dollars (not charges) and high return on investment
to its clients during the last decade.
As a consultant, Ms. Watson also introduced PRS to select
physicians at Houston Eye Associates, the Gulf Coast's largest
ophthalmology clinic with 21 physicians and three satellite
offices. HEA hired her in 2000 to direct all of its business
development activities -- including managing its satellites
and overseeing the move and build out of one of those clinics.
In her business development capacity, she redesigned HEA's
logo; helped create HEA's first website; increased attendance
at Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) continuing education seminars
by 100%, and selected and educated staff to handle the patient
recall process. During her first year, patient recall added
$400,000 in actual dollars collected to HEA's top line.
Ms. Watson has since returned full-time to developing Patient
Recall Systems and leading The Watson Group's efforts to serve
the "eye" market. Presently, she is point person
for all of the Holladay LASIK Institute's marketing and advertising
activities.
Her experiences at TEI and HEA -- and working with O.D.s
-- give her special practical experience in ophthalmology.
